Hunter Pence trade finalized…players named from San Fran

The Phillies will be getting in addition to Catcher Tommy Joseph for Hunter Pence:

Major League outfielder Nate Schierholtz who is batting .257 with 5 HRs and 17 RBIs. 2 of those homers were hit in Citizens Bank Park a week and a half ago. He will be splitting time with the rest of the outfielders. He comes cheap ($1.4 million this year) and is under team control until 2015.

They’ve also acquired a big Right Handed Pitcher who can start or pitch in relief in Seth Rosin. He’s 6’6″ and 250 and is 2-1 with a 4.31 ERA in 34 games…5 of which he’s started. He’s given up 49 hits in A+ San Jose with 18 walks and 68 strikeouts.

Is Jimmy Rollins next?

The Oakland A’s are still kicking around the idea of Jimmy Rollins. This is starting to near epic fire sale status if this continues this way.

Phillies Updates: More for Victorino and Diamondbacks & Orioles trades?

The Phillies will be getting a player to be named later or cash from the Dodgers in addition in the Victorino trade.

The Diamondbacks are in a closed door meeting according to Ken Rosenthal. Are they putting a package together for Cliff Lee?

Tommy Joseph doesn’t have to go far to join the Reading Phillies. They’re playing his former team in Richmond tonight.

1st confirmed Giant in Pence deal

Catcher and First Baseman Tommy Joseph is coming to the Phillies in the Hunter Pence trade. The 2nd round pick in 2009 has spent all of this season in AA Richmond hitting .256 with 8 HR and 38 RBI’s.

Victorino to Dodgers official. Pence goes to San Francisco.

Shane Victorino’s career as a Phillie has ended now that he’s been traded to the Dodgers. The Phillies will get Josh Lindbolm and Starter Ethan Martin. Martin was a first round pick (15th overall) in the 2008 draft. Martin was 8-6 with a 3.58 ERA for AA Chattanooga. He started 20 games and gave up 5 home runs, 61 walks and struck out 112.

Jon Heyman is reporting Hunter Pence is on his way to the Giants for a package that DOES NOT include Gary Brown, Brandon Belt or Kyle Crick.

Welcome to the new Phillies folks. Tonight the outfield will be Juan Pierre in left field, John Mayberry Jr. in center field and Dom Brown in right.

Hopefully we find out who the Phillies got for Pence soon.

Dom Brown headed to Washington…Victorino Gone

Matt Gelb of is reporting Domonic Brown has been scratched from AAA Lehigh Valley’s lineup for today and is on his way to Washington.

This pretty much confirms that Shane Victorino is on his way to the Dodgers. Hopefully Brown is able to find his stroke in the majors and take the centerfielder job Victorino leaves behind.

10:20 AM Phillies Trade Deadline Update: Victorino talks heating up and Blanton stalling’s Jayson Stark is reporting Shane Victorino is very close to being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Josh Lindblom and a 2nd player. The Dodgers set the deal up late Monday night by acquiring Brandon League from the Toronto Blue Jays to give them the bullpen flexibility to make the trade happen. The Cincinnati Reds were interested in Victorino but they’re out of the discussion right now because of the Phillies high price. The Reds are out of the Juan Pierre discussion now too so it looks like Pierre will stay a Phillie. The Pirates got out of the Victorino discussions when they picked up Travis Snider last night from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Shane Victorino is no stranger to the Los Angeles Dodgers as he was originally a member of the team before the Phillies took him in the Rule 5 draft. He was offered back to the Dodgers but the …

Tuesday morning Phillies Trade Deadline Update: NOTHING…Well Not Nothing…Yet

Yup. Still in the same place we started earlier today. Actually earlier this week. The last news to really come out with the Phillies was the re-signing of Cole Hamels. Now it’s just sit and wait and hope.

I HOPE they do not trade Cliff Lee. Trading him would be a mistake Amaro would never live down. Hunter Pence, Joe Blanton, Juan Pierre, Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino has had rumors thrown about with their names on it. Let’s break down where each one stands.

Cliff Lee: It does not sound like Cliff Lee is going anywhere. Texas seems to be out of it with the high price tag (not only his contract but what the Phillies want in return) although watching Roy Oswalt hand the Angels 8 ER in 5.1 innings today it might change their mind in regards to their need of a pitcher. Heard Cardinals, Tigers & Dodgers sniffed …

Eagles Training Camp Updates & Injuries + Joe Banner involved in Browns purchase

Howard Eskin reported earlier in the week that Joe Banner is one of the people getting involved in the purchase of the Cleveland Browns and it is all but confirmed at this point that he will be the new President of the team. It will be odd to not see Joe Banner with the Eagles associated with him but it’s step one in the process of success for the Eagles. Next is getting rid of Andy Reid as the head coach. The 3rd step? Hiring whoever to replace him.

Speaking of Big Red he said yesterday at training camp that their plan at this time was to leave Wide Receiver the way it was with the injury to Riley Cooper. Well today that plan may have changed with a very unfortunate injury to WR Ron Johnson. He was a practice squad player last year who was drafted by the San Francisco …
