Post NFL Draft Q&A: Shaping the Potential Eagles Roster

What kind of impact will Lane Johnson have on the Eagles this season? With off-season workouts well under way, and the NFL draft in the rear view mirror, lets reflect on the draft, and make some projections for the upcoming season. We asked HighPhive.com contributor and Eagles/NFL Draft Writer for FootballExtraPoints.com Josh Collacchi, and HighPhive leading Eagles contributor/sports analyst for 91.3 WVUD Ben Haley on their thoughts about the Eagles draft.

Q: Lane Johnson of Oklahoma was drafted fourth overall and became the Eagles first round pick on April 25th. How does Johnson fit on the current offensive line for the Eagles? And what does the acquisition of Johnson mean for the future of Danny Watkins, Todd Herremans, and Jason …

Chip Kelly’s Pre-Draft Watch List; Getting to Know Some Potential Draftees

Geno Smith could be at the top of Chip Kelly's want list on Draft Day for the Eagles. The time between free agency and the NFL draft is the slowest portion of the NFL off-season. The free agent pool has been depleted, new rules implemented (sorry Marshawn), new logos created (looking good Miami), playbooks explored and re-written, all that is left is the final piece of the NFL personnel puzzle: the NFL draft. The Philadelphia Eagles will draft fourth overall in this year’s draft, and have eight other selections in addition. The Eagles have draft picks in each of the first five rounds, and four selections in the final round of the draft. With much help needed on the roster, and an …

Philadelphia Eagles Potential NFL Draft Picks in Round 2

Safety Kenny Vaccaro from Texas would look great as the Philadelphia Eagles second round pick.Assuming the Philadelphia Eagles go in the trenches with the 4th overall pick, whether it be Sheldon Richardson, Dion Jordan, Jarvis Jones, Lane Johnson or Eric Fisher, the 2nd round pick is one the Birds NEED to hit. The last few second rounders (prior to this year) have been busts, to say the least. Nate Allen has not been the same since his injury, Jaiquawn Jarrett is not on the team, Trevor Laws and Victor Abiamiri were both busts. Needless to say, the Eagles need a good starter this year in the second round, …

Over-Paid and Under-Played for the Eagles

Michael Vick was re-signed by the Eagles to reduce his cap number. Who else doesn't deserve a massive contract? As the curtain fell on the nightmare that was the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2012-2013 season, Andy Reid walked his green mile, and the proverbial axe fell to end the most successful era in Philadelphia football history. After the worst season in Reid’s tenure ended, Jeffery Lurie made good on his promise that “eight losses was not good enough” and Reid was out in Philadelphia. The fat lady sang his last song in Eagle green, and quickly landed a new job in Kansas City, yet somehow managed to be out of work for less time than Rob, 5 minutes, …

Eagles end the 2012 Season with Loss to Giants

Michael Vick more than likely has thrown his last pass as a Philadelphia Eagle. The Philadelphia Eagles’ 2012 season ended today at Metlife Stadium with a truly horrifying loss to the New York Giants, 42-7. The 14th season of Andy Reid as the Eagles head coach has also ended and quite possibly has coached his last Eagles game. There was nothing redeeming about this loss or the qualify of the effort put out on the field by many players on the 4-12 team. Michael Vick started the game and Trent Edwards finished it. Nnamdi Asomugha was benched.

The game started exactly like Reid’s coaching career in Philadelphia began…with a recovered onside kick. It would last all of 5 plays before Vick threw a ball over Brent Celek‘s head and landed in …

Eagles-Bengals Staff Predictions!

In the midst of the news about the Philadelphia Phillies the 4-9 Philadelphia Eagles will host the Cincinnati Bengals at Lincoln Financial Field tonight in what will sure to be a barn burner (probably not.) The Bengals are in the playoff hunt in the AFC while the Eagles can just play spoiler. Here are the HighPhive.net’s staff predictions for tonight’s game:

Josh Collacchi:

The Eagles play the Bengals Thursday night and will have another shot at national attention. Nick Foles, Bryce Brown, and the other rookies get a chance to show the world (and perhaps other teams) what they can do. It is a big step for Foles, as he is going against the number one defensive line in the NFL in terms of sacks. Nick Foles will continue to improve, although he will get banged around if he throws 45 times again. 27-39 321 yds 2 TD …

Eagles Continue March to #1 Pick With Loss to Dallas

Eagles Running Back Bryce Brown fumbles in the 4th quarter of last night's game. We’re almost there folks. The end of the nightmare that has been the 2012 Philadelphia Eagles season and with last night’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys 38-33 the Eagles are now one step closer to the #1 overall pick for next year’s draft. The game had it’s highlights and lowlights. At the end though Tony Romo had the best 2nd half of his career and the defense once again looked like it couldn’t stop anything. The Eagles are now one game behind the league’s worse teams (Kansas City & Jacksonville.)

The second drive of the game gave the Eagles a 7-0 advantage with a 10 yard touchdown run by

The Eagles’ Letdown at the Linc

Eagles Quarterback Michael Vick Had a Face Full of Turf & a Concussion in Sunday's Loss“America’s Game of the Week” was an utter disaster for fans of the Philadelphia Eagles.  What started out as a promising mix of fantastic offensive drives and multiple sacks on Dallas Cowboy quarterback Tony Romo, ended in an abysmal array of fumbles, missed tackles, and back to back to back scoring drives against the Birds in a 38-23 blowout.  What happened?  Where did we go wrong?  Was it Michael Vick’s concussion in the 2nd quarter that ultimately sealed our untimely fate?  Was it another round of mistake-laden play-calling and wasted timeouts?  Or did the Cowboys just plain beat us?  If you guessed all of …

Week 9 Waivers: Fantasy Football Last Minute Pickups

Eagles TE Brent Celek Should Be a Waiver Wire Pickup This WeekIsaac Redman, RB Pit – Both Jonathan Dwyer and Rashard Mendenhall are listed as doubtful, Redman is expected to get the start Sunday against a Giants defense the averages 113 rushing yards allowed per game.

Pierre Thomas, RB NO – With Darren Sproles (broken hand) out Thomas should receive the bulk of the rushing duties. He may lose goal line touches to fellow RB Mark Ingram, but Thomas is the more skilled pass catcher and blocker for the Saints.

Vick Ballard, RB Ind – Donald Brown returned to the fold last week and looked impressive, but he’s been downgraded to questionable after Friday’s practice …

Michael Vick Is Far From the Eagles’ Biggest Problem

Is Eagles' Quarterback Michael Vick The Biggest Problem for the Eagles? Tom Holzerman doesn't think so.The Eagles should have the most dynamic offense in the NFL. They have a running back in LeSean McCoy whose spirit animal is most surely Barry Sanders. They have one of the best receiving corps in the league in usually sure handed Jason Avant, explosive DeSean Jackson and a potential perennial All-Pro in Jeremy Maclin. Brent Celek has the ability to be in at least the second tier of productive tight ends. I can be prone to hyperbole and even I can’t put him in the same breath as Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham or …
