New Coaches, New Players, New Identity for Eagles

Chip Kelly's biggest test for the beginning of training camp for the Eagles is determining who between Michael Vick & Nick Foles will start. The primordial mini camp under first year head coach Chip Kelly began in Philadelphia on June 4th, and already has that ‘new-camp’ smell. Gone are fast food Fridays, closed practices, and that jolly green walrus. Even the pace of practice has changed, as numerous players have commented on the new fast-paced practice scheme. Music blares from PA systems as the Eagles go through daily practices, but these aren’t the only changes permeating Philadelphia’s favorite franchise.

Chip Kelly and Andy Reid are antithetic down to their base philosophies. Where Reid instituted physical …

With their First Selection in the 2013 NFL Draft, The Philadelphia Eagles Choose…Who?

Dee Milliner is one of the candidates that the Philadelphia Eagles can draft at their 4th overall pick. Now that the free agency dominoes have fallen, the NFL will now shift their collective focus to the premier event of the off-season, the NFL draft. The Eagles will draft in the top five for the first time since 1999, the same year Andy Reid chose Donovan McNabb  second overall just after the Browns drafted Tim Couch.  With a high draft pick comes a high salary, and thus necessity for grade A talent, and here lies the pressure for NFL general managers. The future of Chip Kelly’s Philadelphia tenure starts on April 25th, and his draft choice will influence his …

Gamble’s Experience Shows as Eagles Add Needed Depth

Isaac Sopoaga was one of the key free agent signings by the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday to start free agency. When the free agency period began yesterday at four o’clock Eastern time, many expected the Philadelphia Eagles to play a major part in the spending frenzy that occurs on the virtual “new years day” of the 2013-2014 NFL season. Philadelphia was not as active as some had surmised, yet General Manager Howie Roseman alongside Tom Gamble addressed many needs of the team without over spending. Furthermore, Philadelphia still has the cap room to splash the cash should they desire, and with top free agents still on the market like New England’s Sebastian Vollmer, and former 49ers safety Dashon …

Cullen Jenkins Released as Eagles Continue to Cut Cap

Cullen Jenkins is the first casualty of what should be many changes on the Philadelphia Eagles defensive side.ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported just a short while ago that Cullen Jenkins has been released by the Philadelphia Eagles. Jenkins, who was scheduled to make just over $5.5 million in the upcoming season, will be replaced by second year player, and all rookie team member, Fletcher Cox. This continues a trend in Philadelphia this year of clearing cap space in order to improve personnel on both sides of the ball. Chip Kelly has not fully committed yet that his defense will run from a 3-4 defense this season, as opposed to the 4-3 form that former Eagles defensive coordinator Jim …

Over-Paid and Under-Played for the Eagles

Michael Vick was re-signed by the Eagles to reduce his cap number. Who else doesn't deserve a massive contract? As the curtain fell on the nightmare that was the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2012-2013 season, Andy Reid walked his green mile, and the proverbial axe fell to end the most successful era in Philadelphia football history. After the worst season in Reid’s tenure ended, Jeffery Lurie made good on his promise that “eight losses was not good enough” and Reid was out in Philadelphia. The fat lady sang his last song in Eagle green, and quickly landed a new job in Kansas City, yet somehow managed to be out of work for less time than Rob, 5 minutes, …

Eagles Defense: Who Should Stay, Who Should Go

Cullen Jenkins & Fletcher Cox could have big roles in the Philadelphia Eagles defense in 2013.With the Baltimore Ravens defeating the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in the Super Bowl, that means we are now closing the book on the 2012 NFL season and 2013 is beginning. With the new year starting, roster moves and decisions have to be made. Free Agency officially begins on March 12, so between now and then, the Philadelphia Eagles will have to decide what to do with their current players, and who might be available to fill any needs.

With Chip Kelly installed as the new Head Coach, everyone knows there will be a new style of offense, which most likely means a few new players on that side …

Sources: UGA’s Todd Grantham Likely Eagles Next DC

Georgia Defensive Coordinator Todd Grantham will reportedly be named the new Eagles Defensive Coordinator. With the hire of Chip Kelly, most people immediately thought, good we have an offensive guy, but who will our defensive coordinator be? According to CSN sources, UGA DC Todd Grantham will be Eagles next defensive coordinator. Grantham led a spectacular Georgia defense to the SEC championship game this year. But Eagles fans are most excited about the 3-4 potentially being in Philadelphia. Finally, the Eagles may have what is inevitably the better defensive scheme in today’s game. Think of all the better teams in the last 5 years, nearly all of them run a 3-4. Packers, 49ers, Steelers, Patriots, Ravens all run a 3-4. (although the Pats is hybrid, they still …

Eagles Potential Draftees for the 2013 NFL Draft

Could the Eagles draft Luke Joeckel in the 2013 NFL Draft? With one week left in the NFL season, all Eagles fans can cheer for now is a high draft pick. The Eagles can pick no higher than 4 but no lower than 10. Most likely they will hold the 4th, 5th or 6th pick. This year’s draft class is nowhere near last year’s in terms of QB, but it is a very deep class in other areas. The Eagles and whoever is running the show in late April, can NOT mess this one up. This is a direction changing draft pick, and can make or break a franchise.

Let’s take a look at who may be available when our Eagles are “on the clock.”

OT Luke Joeckel, Texas A&M

No one can, will, or has been “excited” about drafting an offensive lineman, …

The Eagles’ Letdown at the Linc

Eagles Quarterback Michael Vick Had a Face Full of Turf & a Concussion in Sunday's Loss“America’s Game of the Week” was an utter disaster for fans of the Philadelphia Eagles.  What started out as a promising mix of fantastic offensive drives and multiple sacks on Dallas Cowboy quarterback Tony Romo, ended in an abysmal array of fumbles, missed tackles, and back to back to back scoring drives against the Birds in a 38-23 blowout.  What happened?  Where did we go wrong?  Was it Michael Vick’s concussion in the 2nd quarter that ultimately sealed our untimely fate?  Was it another round of mistake-laden play-calling and wasted timeouts?  Or did the Cowboys just plain beat us?  If you guessed all of …
