76ers Need Substance This Offseason & Forget Doug Collins

Jrue Holiday needs a better team put around him to put a winning team together for him. It’s been a couple of weeks since the Philadelphia 76ers (34-48) ended their season with a 105-95 victory over the Indiana Pacers. Doug Collins is out as Head Coach and Jrue Holiday is the assists leader for the Eastern Conference. That’s about all there is for the good news. That’s not really the truth, but there’s not much to be happy about with the 2012-13 76ers.

There’s no better way to describe the Philadelphia 76ers (34-48) season then to call is a disgrace. It’s a disgrace because “disappointment” just doesn’t cut it when you’re looking back over the course of the past season …

Doug Collins Steps Down, Finally Shows the Right Way to Lead

Doug Collins will reportedly step down as Philadelphia 76ers' Head Coach after the season. The Philadelphia 76ers started this season with a lot of promise and a huge question mark. The promise came from last seasons playoff berth, the expected improvement of Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner, and the arrival of Andrew Bynum. The huge question was when Bynum would allow the 76ers to put the complete package on the floor. It never happened.

In a season that saw the team dominated by any type of big man in the post, Doug Collins refused to put rookie Arnett Moultrie on the floor. When he’s been on the floor, however limited the time has been, Moultrie has produced. …

76ers Final Weekend Is a Winning One over Wizards & Cavaliers

Jrue Holiday led the 76ers to two victories this weekend over Cleveland & Washington. With the NBA regular season coming to an end the Philadelphia 76ers (33-47) have nothing but pride to play for. They’re playing to finish strong in a season where it seems that nothing has gone right. From the mess that has been the Andrew Bynum trade, to Jason Richardson getting hurt, to Jrue Holiday going 2-24 shooting in a game, to Doug Collins murky future with the team , nothing has been easy this season and it certainly hasn’t played out like they thought it would back in the fall.

Friday night, in Washington against the Wizards (29-51), the 76ers, again, fell behind by 13 …

Philadelphia 76ers Weekly Preview 3/25-3/30

Jrue Holiday leads the Philadelphia 76ers into a 4 game schedule this week. It’s one game, but it means a lot to the  76ers because before Sunday nights 117-103 victory over the Sacramento Kings, the 76ers hadn’t won on the road in 15 games over three months. But, they’ll start this week with another team, the Utah Jazz, that they should be able to handle, if they play as well as they did against the Kings. This week, the 76ers will play the Jazz, Bucks, Cavaliers, and Bobcats who all have losing records.

Monday 9:00 pm EST – Utah Jazz (34-36)

The Jazz aren’t doing anything very well but aren’t doing anything very bad either. Their record (34-36) is close to .500 and they’re only one game out of the playoffs in the Western Conference. …

Philadelphia 76ers finish off the TrailBlazers 101-100

Spencer Hawes takes a fade away shot in the 76ers victory over the Trail Blzaers Monday night. If you’ve been watching the 76ers all season then you’ve probably noticed that they give you fits each game. The constant jump shots, lack of inside force, silly turnovers, and inability to close out games has driven me insane over the course of this season. But, those are not the 76ers of the past week. They’ve won 3 of 4 and almost ended the Miami Heat’s win streak in their one loss. Last night, the 76ers (26-40) held on at the end, made some crucial plays that they would have missed earlier in the season and beat the Portland Trailblazers (31-35) by a final of 101-100.

LaMarcus Aldridge was the latest …

76ers Become Victim #20 in a Row, Falling to the Heat 98-94

LeBron James puts down a dunk in the Heat's 20th straight victory by defeating the 76ers 98-94 Wednesday night. You don’t win 20 games in a row without knowing how to close out games. You also don’t lose 13 out of 15 games if you know how to close them out. That’s the tale of the two teams that battled last night in Philadelphia. The hometown 76ers (24-40) fell to the defending champion Miami Heat (49-14) by a final score of 98-94. It just as easily could have been the 76ers on the winning side of that score as they played some of their best basketball against the best team in the NBA.

Closing out games used to be something that people …

Hawes leads the 76ers over the Nets 106-97 After a Long Weekend

Jrue Holiday goes up for a shot in the Philadelphia 76ers win over the Brooklyn Nets Monday night. What’s the best cure for a two weeks stomach virus? If you said a 76ers win, then you would be correct. First, on Friday night in Miami, the Heat (47-14) beat up the 76ers 102-93. Then, on Sunday in Orlando, the Magic (18-46) beat down the 76ers 99-91 behind Jameer Nelson and that Nikola Vucevic kid that we dumped for the city’s biggest bowler. If those two things got you down, like they did me, then last night when the 76ers played the Nets (37-27) you would have felt a lot better watching the 76ers win 106-97 to end the …

Paul Pierce continues to play at a high level and lead the Celtics with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists. Combined with Kevin Garnett’s 18 points and Avery Bradley‘s 22 points, the three Celtics proved to be enough to overcome seven 76ers who finished in double digits.

Jrue Holiday finished with 18 points and 10 assists and Thaddeus Young continued his return from injury with 18 points and …

Evan Turner leads the 76ers to a 104-97 victory over the Warriors

Evan Turner put the Philadelphia 76ers on his back Saturday night to end their 7 game losing streak against the Golden State Warriors.Maybe this was the eye opener that Doug Collins needed or maybe this will cloud his vision even more. Last night in Philadelphia the 76ers (23-34) finally snapped their 7 game losing streak with a 104-97 victory over the Golden State Warriors (33-27). With Nick Young out with an ankle sprain, Evan Turner was free to play like he did earlier in the season and t paid off for the 76ers as Turner finished the game one assist shy of a triple double.  Turner finished with 22 points, …
