Frequently Asked Questions; Eagles Draft Picks

Could Jason Kelce's brother Travis be someone on the Eagles radar in the 2013 NFL Draft?High Phive contributors Ben Haley and Josh Collachi collaborated to answer some pre-draft questions regarding the Eagles’ selections. Were you wondering about the lack of quarterback talent, who the Eagles are targeting, and what positions need addressing the most? Be assured there is no collusion here, only formulated draft analysis.

Q: What is the top priority for the Eagles in this year’s draft?

Josh:

If not for free agency, there would have been numerous holes for the Eagles in this year’s draft. But, since the signing of Connor Barwin, Patrick Chung, Kenny Phillips, Cary Williams and Bradley Fletcher, the impending need for defense has …

Chip Kelly’s Pre-Draft Watch List; Getting to Know Some Potential Draftees

Geno Smith could be at the top of Chip Kelly's want list on Draft Day for the Eagles. The time between free agency and the NFL draft is the slowest portion of the NFL off-season. The free agent pool has been depleted, new rules implemented (sorry Marshawn), new logos created (looking good Miami), playbooks explored and re-written, all that is left is the final piece of the NFL personnel puzzle: the NFL draft. The Philadelphia Eagles will draft fourth overall in this year’s draft, and have eight other selections in addition. The Eagles have draft picks in each of the first five rounds, and four selections in the final round of the draft. With much help needed on the roster, and an …

With Goldson & Long Signed, the Eagles are Considering Alternative Options

Bernard Pollard was released by the Baltimore Ravens. Could the Philadelphia Eagles make a run to bring him in?It has been reported that former 49ers’ safety Dashon Goldson has agreed to a five-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that is reported to be worth $41.25 million, with $22 million guaranteed. Goldson will now be paired with former Alabama S Mark Barron.  The Eagles have missed on another free agent they were reported to be interested in, including Jake Long, who will take a physical, and is expected to sign with the Rams.

Philadelphia could turn its  attention to Bernard Pollard, who will be cut by the Baltimore as per his tweet. The …

Philadelphia Eagles Offseason Plan

Is San Francisco 49ers Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman the next Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach?Every NFL fan is not just concerned with the team from September to February, we are in it for 365 days a year. The NFL offseason is the most important part of the rebuilding process, and unfortunately the Eagles are in that mode. After firing Andy Reid the Eagles are still looking for their coach. Chip Kelly is back to Oregon, Bill O’Brien is back to Penn State. This is GOOD news for Eagles fans. The Eagles, in my opinion, need a coach who has been around the NFL for a while, and has full commitment to the NFL. Greg Roman, Gus Bradley and Mike McCoy are my top three …

Eagles Potential Draftees for the 2013 NFL Draft

Could the Eagles draft Luke Joeckel in the 2013 NFL Draft? With one week left in the NFL season, all Eagles fans can cheer for now is a high draft pick. The Eagles can pick no higher than 4 but no lower than 10. Most likely they will hold the 4th, 5th or 6th pick. This year’s draft class is nowhere near last year’s in terms of QB, but it is a very deep class in other areas. The Eagles and whoever is running the show in late April, can NOT mess this one up. This is a direction changing draft pick, and can make or break a franchise.

Let’s take a look at who may be available when our Eagles are “on the clock.”

OT Luke Joeckel, Texas A&M

No one can, will, or has been “excited” about drafting an offensive lineman, …

An Eagles Fan’s Holiday Wishlist

Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid will not be back next year. Who will the Eagles replace him with? With Christmas just around the corner, every Eagles fan is undoubtedly looking for a merciful end to this dreadful season in their stocking. However, Santa is no miracle worker and this team still has two games to play, whether we want them to or not.

Curses!

However, just because we have to suffer through two more painstaking games this season doesn’t mean we can’t look ahead to the future. To that end, here is a list of things all Eagles fans should ask Santa for this week.

1) Fire Andy Reid, Hire Mike Zimmer

I don’t think there’s an Eagles fan left in Philadelphia that wants to see Reid back as head coach next year. After years of garnering support from Jeffrey “The Grinch” …

Eagles Suffer Huge Loss With Herremans Done for Year

Eagles Offensive Lineman Todd Herremans Is Lost for 2012The Eagles makeshift Offensive Line will get more makeshift for the rest of 2012 as All-Pro Offensive Tackle Todd Herremans is done for the rest of the regular season with a dislocated bone along with more fractures to go with tendon & ligament damage. This leaves just 1 of the Eagles offensive line members to be starting this week out of the 5 that were the Eagles intention. Danny Watkins is not out of the season but so far has not practiced since suffering an ankle injury weeks ago. Jason Peters blew his knee out twice in a 3 month period but he could possibly still come back for the team this season although the team’s record …

Eagles Offensive Woes: A Closer Look

Eagles Quarterback Michael Vick & Offensive Coordinator Marty MornhinwegRun the ball! Every Eagles fan has yelled something like that at their TV at one point or another. Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg‘s play calling has frustrated the fan base almost as much as the infamous “putting the team in a better position to win” phrase. Running the ball more often seems to be an easy fix for the offensive woes, but it’s not that easy. Believe it or not the Eagles run/pass ratio is about 45/55 since the Arizona game.

In fairness, the game against the Giants spiked the Eagles overall run total. LeSean McCoy absolutely dominated on the ground in that game. McCoy could definitely use more touches as the Eagles move forward, but when it comes to …
